Meet Dave Clapper of sCamperVan – a van rental and build shop operating out of Atlanta. Here at CreateATL, we’re also honored to call them our first ever members as we navigated the new world of the pandemic only with them close to us. sCamperVan started in xxxx with a simple goal and one small van. From their fleet has grown in numbers and in the size of each van to their current total of 9 vans.
From the moment the world shut down, their business helped us see the obvious writing on the wall. A lack of normal work hours didn’t mean a decrease in productivity, it meant an increase in connectivity to ourselves, our neighbors and nature. Their van business, once riding the high of music festivals, pivoted and adapted to what the world was now asking for.
Dave, the founder, started his music career on radio on the airwaves of Michigan hosting a show as the “Outlaw” on 97.9. He and Dutch met working here at 94.1 and their friendship paved the way for this fresh approach to connecting to the world. Their business didn’t just align with CreateATL’s shared theme for our member businesses in The Collective “How do you better connect the community with the outdoors?” – their whole world view aligned with us. People need to be able to work and live flexibly in a way that centers us around the nature we’ve lost site of. Their mission to put people in vans in Atlanta and push them out into the world answers the call for new ways to live more happily. We’ve seen the joy they have with each van that rolls off (our personal favorite is number 5 with the rooftop tent), but we’ve also been able to see up close how today’s entrepreneurs can take advantage of flexible space.

This space built for entrepreneurs has been invaluable for Clapper who credits CreateATL with the ability for his team to expand on the build side of the equation with their new shop in midtown where their expert team of fabricators rolls custom builds off the assembly line.
